The Generali Archive is participating for the second time in Open Archives, the initiative that the Rete Fotografia association is promoting throughout Italy from 13 to 22 October 2023.

The 9th edition, entitled Gli archivi dei fotografi italiani: un patrimonio da valorizzare [Archives of Italian Photographers: a Valuable Heritage], aims to draw public attention to an increasingly topical theme of interest to photographers, who are ever more aware of the value of their work, and to conservation bodies engaged in the on-going study, cataloguing and digitisation of their cultural value to ensure that this heritage can be accessed and appreciated by all.

The Generali Historical Archive is participating in the rich programme of events with three special guided visits on 17 October to Palazzo Berlam for viewings of its photographic heritage.

Visitors will be able to admire shots from the most renowned photographic studios of the late nineteenth century and the twentieth century, in Trieste and elsewhere, such as Foto Pozzar e Giacomelli, Sebastianutti & Benque, the G. Franceschinis photographic studio, C. Werningg, Domenico Giacomo (Mino) Zanutto and Camillo Toncker. The Palazzo’s loose photographs and albums attest to more than a century of Generali activity with vivid glimpses of corporate life that preserve memories of people, institutional and promotional events, and various anniversaries.

These are reports commissioned ad hoc to local professionals operating in the Company’s various offices and locations.

Continuing a tradition of benefit to daily activities linked to internal and external corporate communication, the Company has adopted a long-term conservation policy for photos and videos from the recent past and the present day, creating an indexed image repository for easy and quick retrieval of photos and videos, principally for internal use, which will make best use of the work of local and international professionals.
